Some components of the Software may be supported by advertising revenue and may display advertisements and promotions. To facilitate this, search requests may redirect through a website owned by OneLaunch or our search partners. A portion of advertising revenue generated from default search supports OneLaunch financially. OneLaunch default search is powered by select search partners. But because grandma can't/refuses to read what it is saying on the display, they download and install problematic software that just annoys that hell out of them going forward. Often it'll be ripe with ads and popups and offers to download software that has nothing to do with the website. So naturally instead of bookmarking their favorite site, they just google "free solitaire card game" and click whatever comes up. No one needs them for anything and will often be told they need to download and install it to proceed with whatever they are doing.Ĭommonly I see this on "old lady" computers where a majority of their time on the computer is playing card games online. Desktop toolbars are nonsense software now. They effectively force ads and search results from their "partners" to drive traffic and such to them. This what is called a browser hijack tool. While not specifically malware, the actions and liberties it takes on a computer is very close to it.
